This product is normally used for needlepoint. Purchase at any arts and crafts store. Typical cost is US$1 for a sheet 13-5/8" x 22-5/8". Mesh 7 means 7 holes per inch (if you ever find any mesh 5 let me know!).. Although it will work as is, the holes should be made a little bit larger for properly separating the sawdust from the pellets. We spent a lot of time carefully snipping out every other strand separating the holes. Instead of 7 holes per inch both directions, we ended up with rectangular holes: 7 holes per inch one direction and 3.5 holes per inch the other direction.

With scissors, cut the sheet to exactly fit in the bottom of the sift tray. If a large enough sheet size is not available, then you can use smaller sheets woven together. Nylon fishing line works best, but you can make your own thread (NOT recommended) by cutting one strand from the long edge of a sheet, then weaving it through the holes of the two sheets. Be careful! Don't pull the strand too hard when weaving because the plastic breaks easily. The sheets you are weaving together should overlap by two rows.
